We could tell you that we offer a state-of-the-art facility filled with highly trained, well educated experts in the field of fitness.
And we could tell you that we offer all new members an initial evaluation process that virtually eliminates the guesswork in designing a personalized fitness program.
We could also tell you how one of our assessments actually measures your body’s ability to burn calories throughout the day rather than estimate this critical component of a weight loss program.
We could even talk about the artificial turf infield, deep sand training, overspeed treadmills, Olympic lifting platforms and our sport specific training programs.
What we really want you to know, however, is that we offer a comfortable training environment that our clients love.
But most importantly, we want you to know that we are truly dedicated in helping you reach your goals and we will do everything we can to make your fitness dreams come true.

Meet Our Staff
Kristen Cole, B.S.
Kristen is from Austin, Texas and is the stereotypical Texas girl except for her hatred for the Dallas Cowboys and country music. Like every Texas girl she lives for football and loves all college sports. Her heart will always bleed burnt orange (hook ‘em horns!) but the Sun Devils do have a special place in her heart. Kristen graduated from Arizona State University in December 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. The HIT Center was her first job right out of college and with how much she loves training and her clients it’s looking like it might be her last
. She has run cross-country her entire life and still competes a few times a year. Her passion is for trail running and can’t wait for it to cool down so she can get off the treadmill! Although it is ridiculously hot here a few months out of the year she keeps telling herself, “at least it’s a dry heat right?!” It’s that dry heat that makes her wonder how she will ever live in a humid climate again—looks like she might be in the desert for awhile.
Jon Fennell, M.S.
Jon is a Jersey boy who somehow found his way to the much warmer and dryer climate that is Arizona. Just before trekking out to the West he spent some time in the Midwest states, Kentucky and Indiana, for his undergrad and graduate degrees, respectively. During his time in Kentucky he played all four years on his school’s intercollegiate tennis team. From Kentucky Jon and his wife Angela, who played collegiate volleyball, moved to Indiana in pursuits of his graduate degree in Sports Performance. They quickly realized they had no intention of staying for any longer than they had to, apologies to Indiana natives, but seriously! Staying true to his roots Jon is a full-fledged Mets fan, even though the last 3 years have been an embarrassment. He enjoys discovering what his clients’ enjoy/respond to best during exercise and creatively working that in to every session so they have a good time, every time.

Nate Meckes, M.S. (PhD in progress)
Nate is a Michigan native who loves the fact that frozen things never fall from the sky here. After attending Calvin College and Michigan State University for his bachelors and masters degrees, he decided that staying in the cold no longer made any sense. So naturally, he loves to be outdoors hiking, cycling, and throwing. Nate threw discus in college and still has dreams of throwing far. While at the HIT center, he has decided to push himself as hard as he pushes other people in their workouts. With experience working in a couple of different facilities, he hopes to bring something new to the team and the people training here. Last but not least, Nate loves to eat, so let him know about any great local restaurants.

Chris Rehfuss B.S.
Chris is an Ohio native attended The Ohio State University where he recieved his degree in exercise science while playing soccer. After college he played in the MLS for 5 years primarily for Miami Fusion, with another 4 years of MISL experience as a member of the Cleveland Force. During all of this, Chris was an ongoing member of the US national team in both soccer and futsol, getting a chance to represent the United States at the Pan Am Games, Futsol World Championships, and an alternate for 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
After moving to Arizona Chris completed his course work through NASM and began training, primarily working with young athletes. He currently coaches and trains with Barcelona soccer club focusing on goalkeeping and overall fitness of his players. In his spare time, Chris enjoys any type of competitive sport, whether playing or watching (GO BUCKS)!

Steve Penn
Steve grew up in the Midwestern states of Indiana and Ohio. He attended The University of Toledo to play football, before an injury cut his career short. After finishing his degree, Steve decided to head west because “you don’t have to shovel sunshine!”
Steve has been in the fitness industry for over 8 years. He has worked as a General Manager, Athletic Director, Personal Trainer at some of the larger chains in the valley. Steve brings a great deal of experience in all aspects of health and fitness to our team.
In his free time, Steve enjoys coaching his sons youth football team and he tries to play as much golf as possible.

Jesse Adarme, CSCS
Born and raised in Kailua-Kona Hawaii, Jesse Adarme comes to the HIT Center with seven years experience in sports performance and fitness training. While attending the University of Nevada, Reno on a football athletic scholarship he also assisted with the Strength and Conditioning program. He has experience working with sport & fitness academies since earning his degree in 2005 and has trained a variety of athletes, preparing them for their respective sport. Jesse holds the prestigious CSCS certification and will complete his M.S. degree in nutrition and exercise the summer of 2011. One of his greatest achievements in sports is finishing the SilverMan full- distance triathlon (labeled as “one of the toughest courses in the world”). Now he is currently searching for another challenge that will test him both mentally and physically. Jesse resides in Gilbert, AZ and is happily married to Jessica Adarme.

- Tim O’Neil, B.S.
My name is Tim O’Neil and I am a new partner of the Hit Center. Without sounding too much like a personal ad I thought I would provide a little background on myself. I’m a Valley native who has been married 27 years and has a 12-year old daughter (going on 19
). I am also former decathlete who had a 4-year post-collegiate career representing clubs like Team Adidas, Nike and Converse West.
My professional career includes nearly 15 years as President/CEO of F.I.T.T.QUEST USA – a personal training company that offered personal training services, body composition testing and third party management services. We owned and operated our own stand-alone facility and managed other fitness facilities such as the Ritz Carlton, Scottsdale Hilton and KNIX Radio Wellness Center. I developed the Nations first mobile body fat testing lab that offered services for nearly 200 locations in the greater Phoenix area.
I have also been coaching track and field athletes at Brophy and Xavier College Preparatory schools for seven years. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some fabulous kids and managed to develop a little niche in the hurdles and multi-events. In fact, many of my hurdlers and heptathlon/decathlon athletes have been ranked in the top 10 in the United States and won several 5A State Championships.
Most importantly, I want all of you to know how excited I am about being here and how passionate I am about offering our clients the absolute best service possible. We have already begun to make significant improvements to our existing services by introducing more affordable programs and offering new services like our Fit Body Boot Camp.
Our training staff has been hard at work creating several new cardiovascular and weight training programs that offer even more variety. Stay tuned for some new exciting announcements that include a former Arizona Diamondbacks player.
Finally, if you ever have any questions or just want to talk please feel free to contact me anytime. My personal cell phone number is 602-689-5829.
Sincerely,
Tim O’Neil
